Words Are The Problem

Words Are The Problem is an observational documentary following Brigitte Lochhead, one of the few professional female chainsaw carvers. Trained as a sculptor, Lochhead taught herself to use a chainsaw and eventually earned a  place among some of the world’s top chainsaw carvers on the reality TV show A Cut Above. The film sits in contrast to reality television through its absence of diegetic dialogue, challenging the emotional labor often expected of women in these settings and questioning the explanation demanded of women when working in male-dominated fields.
