Paperweight Biennale VI – Invite

Hi UCI 

I would like to invite you to participate in the 6th edition of the Paperweight Biennale this coming spring at the Walter N Marks Center for the Arts on the College of the Desert Campus in Palm Springs. The biennale has taken place since 2014 and has been staged in Vancouver Canada, San Diego, Mexico City, Joshua Tree, and Online. 

There are two simple requirements for submissions

1. That the work has a foot print smaller than a sheet of paper
2. That the work weighs more than a sheet of paper.

The works submitted by artists are often small scale sketches or maquettes, material tests or  in process experiments. You can see documentation of previous shows here to get a sense of the exhibition. The goal of the exhibition is to provide space to consider smaller objects that might more often be ignored in the process of making artwork and to give them a place to be thought through as finished artworks. 

This exhibition will involve the students, faculty and staff of the host institution College of the Desert and participants from UCI. The exhibition is open to undergraduate, and graduate students as well as other employees of the art department.

Works will be picked up from UCI on Wednesday April 10th for installation at College of the Desert.
